Please visit BeeSoft's
website for information about ProTA software for
Macintosh computers.
Also read this
.pdf file for extra info - from a ProTA user and
customer of Cooltrader.
Importing Cooltrader data into ProTA software is
easy:
Drag any Cooltrader .txt. or .sym file onto the
ProTA program icon.
That's it! ProTA's Universal Text Importer does the
rest.
Here are some additional tips and illustrations:
1. Import Cooltrader's 'symbols.sym' file before
importing any data files (.txt files). Get it here
You will only import the 'symbols.sym' once, when
you initially set up your database. The 'symbols.sym'
file contains a listing of ticker symbols and security
names. If you import this file first, ProTA will create
an entry in it's database for every ticker, along
with the appropriate name. Just drag the 'symbols.sym'
file onto the ProTA icon. This will launch ProTA into
the Universal Text Importer window:
To import the entire file without any interruptions,
click Importer Preferences and make sure the New Symbols
option is set to AUTO:
2. Before importing Cooltrader's data files (.txt
files), check your Dates & Numbers Preferences
to ensure they are set to match Cooltrader's date
format.
Click Importer Preferences in the Universal Text
Importer window.
Choose Preferences for: Dates & Numbers, then
make sure the Dates option is set to "Month precedes
Day":
3. If you are uncomfortable using the drag-and-drop
method to import files, you can always open a file
in the traditional Macintosh way:
From the File menu, choose Open. Then select any
Cooltrader .sym or .txt file to import it.
